When you start writing a blog or publishing anything online, it is valuable to know whether anyone even reads it. I wanted to add an analytics option to my blog but hesitated to use something like Google Analytics because it is highly invasive. Since I reside in the EU, there are also some GDPR considerations related to using analytics. This led me to explore some options that promote privacy and don’t collect unnecessary data....

In one of my previous posts I wrote about installing hugo. Of course, unless you want to keep your posts only private, you will need to publish your blog somewhere. Hugo’s website provides a few options for hosting and deployment of your blog. Since I already run an Apache web server on a virtual machine on Linode, I decided to simply deploy my blog using scp. BTW, I highly recommend Linode as your cloud provider....
